Height & Shape The Sweet Chestnut is a large tree
growing up to approx. 30mtrs. The bark has a spiral fissured
effect.
Leaves & Flowers
The glossy leaves are very long with a serrated edge up to 25cm in
length. Flowers appear June-July. The chestnuts are
surrounded by a green spiny case.
Distribution The Sweet Chestnut is native to southern Europe but is widely
planted elsewhere.. Prefers well drained soil.
