Height & Shape Blackthorn is a small tree or shrub
with a wide spreading crown or thorny twigs. Produces lots of
suckers.
Leaves & Flowers Leaves are small and oval shaped with a toothed edge. Dense
clusters of white flowers appear before the leaves in March/April.
Bluish/black fruits produced in autumn.
Distribution Native to most of Europe. Usually seen in thickets and
hedges. Will grow on most soils except very wet ground.
