Cheviot Trees has been
growing this speciality grass for several years, and by working closely
with clients has been able to supply the quality product needed, at the
right time, to ensure successful establishment and rapid ground
restoration.
Both Carneggie Club at
Skibo
Castle
in the
Scottish
Highlands
, and Portmarnock Golf Club, in Co Dublin,
Eire
have recently taken major steps in re-establishing and restoring eroded
dune land, in and around their golf courses. In an effort to return
their coastal dune areas to there original glory by planting tens of
thousands of Marram Grass plants, both courses have successfully made
big inroads into their restoration strategies.
Marram Grass is the
native, salt resistant coastal grass that has naturalised and stabilised
our coastline over the centuries. It has suffered years of neglect and
erosion, due to changing weather patterns and now extreme weather and
tides.
Supplying also the full
range of native trees,
shrubs and groundcover, Cheviot trees provide the
full range of complimentary species suitable for golf course
establishment, re-structure and enhancement. Species include Gorse,
Broom and native wild Heather. All stock is grown at their nurseries in
the Scottish Borders.
Contract grows are the
only effective way of ensuring plant availability for specific
plantings, and particularly for scarce speciality plants such as Marram.
Forward planning makes life so much easier for everyone, and provides
genuine ‘Best Value’.
