Cytisus scoparius - Broom

Cytisus scoparius - Common Broom is a perennial shrub of the pea family. It is a native of Western and Central Europe and is typically found in sunny sites, usually on dry sandy soils at low altitudes.

Height & Shape
Grows to a height of approx. 2.4mtrs fairly quickly and has green shoots with small deciduous trifoliate leaves 5-15 mm long. Like its relatives it bears seed pods that turn black when mature.

Leaves & Flowers
2.5cm long,pea-like bright yellow flowers appear in May to June.
